*For the first time in 25 years, the Delmar Loop will have a cab stand. St. Louis County Cab/Yellow Cab will have a stand across the street from Blueberry Hill, between Brandt’s and Fitz’s.
*Trailnet has launched a regular “Breakfast for Bikers” series on the last Wednesday of every month. During the event, free coffee and breakfast is served to commuter cyclists at the Old Post Office Plaza in Downtown St. Louis. The first Breakfast for Bikers was held June 30, and more than 20 cyclists stopped by. Future events are scheduled for July 28, Aug. 25, Sept. 29 and Oct. 27. Breakfast is served between 6:30 and 9:30 a.m.
*Recent Clayton High grad Simone Bernstein was named the 2010 recipient of the Jamala Rogers Young Visionary Award. While in high school, Bernstein created Volunteen, a website that connects middle and high school students with volunteer opportunities. She was profiled in the Word earlier this summer.
* Are you a new mom who likes to take a stroll — and get a workout in, too? Lydia Bledsoe is the new Stroller Strides franchise owner who teaches classes to new moms and their babies in Forest Park. She leads them through intervals of power walking with their strollers and then strength training with resistance bands.
In addition to the classes, Stroller Strides offers playgroups and mom’s night out, giving women an opportunity to socialize and further relationships.
