Property Assessment July 7-20, 2010
(by Jeff Fister - July 07, 2010)
So, you’re a first-time home buyer? How would you like to be on television?
The Home and Garden Network (HGTV) series, My First Place, is currently seeking “interesting, energetic people with a great story to tell” to be profiled on the show as they journey through the home-buying process.
The series is starting to tape its ninth season this month, and will include people from Boston, San Francisco, Austin and St. Louis. According to High Noon Entertainment, the show’s producer, the series “chronicles first-time homebuyers’ struggles and successes as they go through the potentially overwhelming process of searching for, bidding on, inspecting and ultimately buying a home for the first time.”
High Noon said that homebuyers who are chosen for the show will receive a surprise housewarming gift as part of the show and a DVD copy of their episode after it airs on HGTV.
If you are a realtor or a home buyer, and interested in being on the show, send an e-mail to kwoodard@highnoontv.com or call 303-712-3229 to request an application. You can also apply online at www.highnoontv.com.
*The Dielmann Sotheby’s International Realty third annual fundraising silent auction will be held July 19 to 23 at their offices in Clayton, 8301 Maryland Ave. All proceeds benefit the Realtor Housing Assistance Fund, a 501c(3) organization. Since 1989, more than $600,000 has been raised in the St. Louis area and donated, through grants, to address the needs of the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless. One hundred percent of the funds raised go to a number of worthwhile charities, with all administrative costs underwritten by the St. Louis Association of Realtors If you’re interested in bidding on items, stop by Dielmann’s office during business hours that week; bidding closes at noon July 23. Items include a flight simulator package for four people worth $3,500. Also lots of jewelry, Cardinals’ tickets, artwork, salon and spa gift certificates and more. “We’ve been preparing for the auction for months now. Some of the agents even opened an in-office thrift store to raise funds throughout the year in hopes of contributing even more than last year’s impressive total,” said owner Andy Dielmann.
*Gershman Mortgage in St. Louis has added Rick Orf as FHA commercial loan manager. Orf, who will be based at the company’s Clayton headquarters, 7 N. Bemiston, will be responsible for managing, processing and coordinating loan packages to HUD for multi-family and health-care projects.
Prior to joining Gershman Mortgage, Orf was a project leader and senior analyst with several Fortune 100 companies. Orf is a graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he earned a B.S. degree in business administration.
